Bicentennial Man

In the movie Bicentennial Man I think Andrew should be considered alive because he actually had feelings and had a heart. Also I think he should be considered human because he had all the abilities to do everything a human could do or even better. He wasn’t considered a human because people felt that he would only and always be a robot.

I think Andrew shouldn’t have been owned because he felt as if he wanted to go out and experience the things all humans experience. He didn’t want to tend to anybody unless he wanted to. So basically he wanted to do things at his own free will. In the movie the people felt that all robots should be owned or have somebody to direct them because I guess they probably thought he was going to do something wrong, not knowing that Andrew was different.

I feel like only Andrew should be allowed to marry humans because he was one of a kind. There was no other robot like Andrew and after awhile he actually was human in my eyes. They rejected him to become recognized as a full human being because he was not in the gene pool and they said he will always be considered immortal.

I don’t think that every robot should be considered human because they’re all not as well developed as Andrew is. I think Andrew is probably the most well developed robot yet. I doubt that people will top that. Also, I think he it has feelings, a heart, and everything else like a human and can eat like one it should be considered a human. I also believe that he had earned every right to become apart of the human species. He even helped one of the people in the court live a little longer because he made him a fake organ. These are my reasons for believing such things.

Andrew would fail the Turing test before he fell out the window because he wasn’t as smart. For example he didn’t understand the meaning of “goodnight” or “you can go to the kitchen now”. When he fell I’m guessing that it made him all of a sudden intelligent from the fall. I would say Andrew is really intelligent like humans. He was able to have a full fledge conversation with another human being without being confused. Also I think he’s really smart because he had invented the artificial organs all by himself.

I think AI will be a good thing for humanity ONLY if they’re like Andrew. He just wanted to be free and he didn’t have any bad intentions. I think it will be more like Bicentennial Man because in Flatline the robots were taking over humanity not really contributing to the society. Also, I feel like those types of robots will be good to the world.
